The mysterious disappearance of Jacob's Tangy Twiglets - SOLVED

From the comment box of Planned Random Action in Warwickshire, a commenter called lisa posts this response,

Thank you for contacting us concerning your inability to find Jacob’s Tangy Twiglets. We regret to advise you that these are now discontinued and are unlikely to be manufactured again.

Before any product reaches the shelves, extensive and costly product development and research is undertaken. Only a small percentage of new product concepts reach the retail outlet, and even then, products may easily fail to gain the necessary appeal. Sadly, therefore, some products are removed from sale after only a seemingly short time.

However, a longer manufactured product may also be discontinued due to a falling off of popularity, resulting in it no longer being a viable product to produce.

We are genuinely sorry that we cannot give a more favourable response in this instance.

Kind regards,
   Sue Gibson,
   Consumer Services Co-or

After no less than 8 phone calls to the media relations department of United Biscuits I now know the explanation as to why Worcester Sauce flavoured Twiglets also disappeared after a very short life. I will blog it forthwith, once I've composed myself... Meanwhile, keep pushing for the return of Tangy Twiglets - if the pain's too strong - on this email address,

i love tangy twiglets, please bring them back, nothing else compares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personnally disagree with sue gibson. My wife and I used to have to almost panic buy when they were available.....Have they been removed due to harmful/not fashionable ingredients a la MSG I wonder?????

No idea exactly why - they were always effectively a limited editiong as far as I can tell. And you're not alone, plenty of folk

http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/rholland/entry/worcester_sauce_tangy/

are peeved.

i love tangy twiglets and agree with all comments above i have searched half of britain looking for these and when they were availabl 90% of the time i went to nearest stockist they were all sold out BRING THEM BACK there is a site you can buy them from for 1.50 a bag and its www.britstore.co.uk

I am very disappointed that tangy twiglets have discontinued. I adore them. I have just been disgussing with my friend who delicious they are. BRING THEM BACK

I am a massive fan of the tangy twiglets. so upset i cannot get tthem anymore. when ever i saw them i used to buy them. but surely they can bring them back. they bought back lemon and scampi niknaks!!!!

AS I remember it, they were only really available at Christmas anyway... and I personally must have bought enough to make them a viable product in the market! Sounds to me like like Sue Gibson is talking rubbish and a full-scale investigation needs to be launched.

Tangy Twiglets were so amazing and i'm gutted that they disappeared. My Kiwi colleague has never experienced them and when we have daily (regular) twiglet snacks together i mention the halo'd other variant that went missing.
Bring 'em back UB!!

Maybe the reason they weren't popular is very few places sold them. I used to live in Grimsby. There are at least 10 supermarkets in the area, 6 of these are LARGE hypermarket types, yet only Morrisons used to sell them, and half the time they were out of stock. I used to bulk buy whenever I saw them. If you market a product that you want to be viable long term, you need it displayed on shelf space everywhere, and have introductory offers etc. Look at the likes of Kit Kat chunky, and Burger King Angus for examples.

Where are tangy twiglets?

I personally really dislike the Original Marmite flavoured twiglets... it must be that love it or hate it slogan they keep pushing. So, when tangy twiglets came onto the shelves I gave them a whirl and it was instant love. Please please please please bring them back!!! None of my friends believe me when I talk about them. Like some sort of urban myth! They were delicious and need to be brought back ASAP!

how come when you find something nice they stop making them. A bit like cadburys whisper. bring them back like the whisper there sell out in no time.

I agree with everyone - I always bought loads when I found them - the only downside was I couldn't put them down until my lips and gums were burning. Please bring them back - make this my Christmas wish to Santa!

Bring back tangy twiglets! Does anyone have the email for Justin Lee Collins, he tried to get the A Team back, maybe he can get tangy twiglets back!?

please bring back the tangy flavour i love the marmite as well but will this go as well ihope not

please bring back the tangy flavour i love the marmite as well but will this go as well ihope not

Bring back Tangy Twiglets!

Bring them back...life isn't the same without them!!!!

I don't think they were marketed well I could only ever source them from one supermarket...never stood a chance!

get them back or the rabbit gets it
